Costa Rica literally translates as “Rich Coast,” an appropriate name for a country surrounded by oceans which are really rich in life. On the Pacific side, the coastal islands defined by their underwater pinnacles, in Guanacaste, offer tempting shark and stingray encounters.

These destinations have strong currents, which makes them more suitable for advanced divers. These are the most famous dive sites in Costa Rica and it’s worth the effort to get there. The Pacific coast is also known for pelagic life. From humpback whales to rays, this coast is suitable for all level of diving, with some quiet areas and some known for having strong current.

It is worth to mention that the southern part of the country is a Protected Biological Reserve, prefect to enjoy all of the protected animals of it. The underwater landscape is formed by boulders and pinnacles, and you will enjoy large amount of fish swimming in almost all dives.
